Monday Motivation: You’re Always at Home in Him

John 14:2 (NKJV)                                                                                                                                                                                           In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

My Parents’ House

Today is our final day of vacation, and it’s a bittersweet feeling.  I’ve had an incredible time with my family, (and friends ;)) and my mom and stepdad bent over backwards to make their house a home for us.  I barely spoke to my mother over these last 8 weeks, because her days and nights were spent painting, sanding, organizing, installing, repairing, and a host of other DIY projects she was determined to complete before we arrived.  I told her repeatedly that all of these preparations weren’t necessary, and as able-bodied adults, my husband and I could help.  I encouraged her to put us to work, but she refused to listen.  “It’s your vacation.” she would say, “I’m the mom and I want my children to be able to settle in and be comfortable.”  I’d roll my eyes on the other side of the phone, because I didn’t like the thought of her stressing over us.  I thought she was being stubborn and trying to “do too much”, but the truth is, she was simply being a wonderful mom.  For her it wasn’t about bending over backwards, late nights, or those pull-your- hair- out moments.  It was about giving us a place where we’d always feel welcome.

Over these last 12 days my mom has seen her dream realized.  Her house was the gathering place for our 25 guests on Thanksgiving, and our room looks as well-lived in as it does at home.  Image may be NSFW.

🙂
It’s a joy to know that my parents would go to such great lengths for us, and I’m reminded that the Lord goes “all out” for us each and every day.

He will welcome you into His presence, His company, and His love.  He is our Father and our friend, and His home is waiting for our arrival.  As He prepares for us, let us also prepare to be with Him, and thank Him always for His care.

Psalm 23:5-6(NKJV)                                                                                                                                                                                                                                You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.

Are you at home in Christ?
